I hate it when they flip the image so it works with their text.

Guys,
I have an old VHS tape of the Alamo from around 1986 with the bugler standing next to or outside the chapel blowing the horn. Palisade not quite up yet. Looks like just B4 Bowie and his men arrive. Wish I could show it to ya, but still trying to master the directions on how to post photos and such.

I think that is actually the first time it came out on VHS. I have the same one. Always like that image.

Me too. I love the picture. The video, on the other hand, was as disappointing as it was rewarding (being the first time) because it was Pan-and-Scan -- you could see an eye here, a nose there........ Just like showing only the top half of the Mona Lisa. For those who know me, you know "adapted for your television screen" has been a long-standing anger of mine, finally -- FINALLY -- corrected by DVD's and a more cinema-informed marketplace. :D

This Japanese version (on eBay) says it is in 8 mm videotape. What exactly is that?
Running time, 155 minutes.

Connie googled it and found that 8 mm. video was and even still is available in the U.S. That said, I'm remembering a marketing campaign decades ago related to it. Ned, I think you will find, if you look carefully as I finally did, that the video case in the photo is exactly the same and the same size as the old audio cassette. The innovation was that the makeup of the tape coating was much finer and more capable of better quality. Seems to have gotten marketed nearly out of existence due to DVD, BluRay, and now 4K. Warner Bros. seems to have generated the one in the picture. Check it out on Wikipedia. That's where Connie found it.
