The Alamo 1960 box covers

Postby Reb_Al on Sun Dec 07, 2008 5:07 pm

These are some of the covers on the VHS and laser Discs which I have. I was wondering if they made a DVD of the restored
version what sort of cover would they make for it?

Cool images, Alex! While I too have the deluxe 3 laser disc Director's Cut box set, I want to leave it sealed in its original cellophane and then just watch a bootleg DVD transfer of it.

I still have mine in the cellophane but as I have two copies of the boxed set I am able to watch the other, the quality is magnificent as you will know.

Nice cover. It says running time 203 min. - that´s 3 hours 23 min., but the movie is only about 3 hours 11 min., right?

Has anyone seen this one? It's probably just a bootleg of the laser disc version, but still...

I see that it said "DVD PAL." Is that a UK issue?

I found the image on Google. No story with it, though. Like I said, it's likely a bootleg.

Davy said that it is probably just a repackaging of the Hong Kong DVD which was lifted from the laser disc version. I have two
other versions of that one with two different covers.

Bootleg or not, it´s nice to know the long version is out there on DVD. It´ll be interesting to see if they´ll release a legit
version during this 50th anniversary year (which they should´ve done long ago).

A big tip-off that it's a bootleg is that, while it is in Pal format and labeled in English, it employs a Spanish poster for the cover.

I see! Would´nt it be called EL ALAMO in Spanish? Of course, it would be easy to remove the EL.

Looks like they did a poor job of it, too. Just splashed a bit of orange over the "EL".

Don't ask me, I'm to busy looking at Linda Cristals image with that torn dress. That sure wasn't in the movie.

Forget the cross! Wish Linda Cristal had worn an outfit like that!

I think it is rather laughable that one of the SPECIAL FEATURES features boasted about is
a COLLECTIBLE BOOKLET. Yeah, we only wish. Since when is a 4 page leaflet considered
a COLLECTIBLE BOOKLET?
