I think it is rather ironic that publicity for The Alamo
printed everything backwards. This stamp of the Alamo is completely mirror image, not just the cross location. Photos in the original (now classic) lobby souvenir book are printed backwards -- just so they balanced the page well. Publicity packet stills were printed backwards for no reason except carelessness. All this accompanying a film whose screenwriter-associate producer took commonly known facts and literally reversed them for the script. Mrs. Dickinson is Travis' cousin. Almeron is Travis' best friend -- not Bonham. Bonham is.... Duke's son. Fannin's men were massacred before the Alamo fell. Richard Boone, in the key promotional TV network piece, says the Battle of San Jacinto was on April 13 and "it was important for me to know this, because I play Sam Houston."
